Whiteaker resident Tim Lewis has been shooting video for years, some of his footage was used in the Oscar nominated film If A Tree Falls, which premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. His new project is groundbreaking and very different than his previous work.
All About Parvin follows the ongoing story of the residents of Dexter, Oregon and their battle against the complete removal of Parvin Butte by big business. Parvin Butte has been a landmark, a recreation spot and a part the towns backyard since the town was founded and now is scheduled for complete removal by money hungry developers who want to mine the entire landscape.
With this project, Lewis has set out to create a new kind of factual video genre. All About Parvin isn’t quite a documentary, as a documentary has an ending, when in many cases the story continues on. All About Parvin is an ongoing series following a handful of residents; their struggles against big business, their personal struggles during the process and the failure of government to serve their community.
